Mr. Samuel Hicks III “D.J. Rabbit”

A Graveside Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Samuel Hicks III who passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2020, will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at 2:00 p.m., Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Ave. with Dr. Rev. S. Evan Burrows, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of College Hill Church, officiating. Samuel was a native and lifetime resident of Tampa, Florida born January 5, 1970 to the late Samuel Hicks, Jr. and Edwina "Kitty" Sheppard. Samuel had a radiant smile and vibrant personality that lit up any room. He attended the local schools of Hillsborough County and was a 1989 graduate from Robinson High School. He retired from the City of Tampa Public Works Department. His passion was music, he was a well-known D.J. affectionately known as “D.J. Rabbit” across the Bay area. Most importantly, he loved spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by, his wife, Eugline Hicks; fathers, Samuel Hicks, Jr. and Alphonso Sheppard, Sr.; grandparents, Norval and Doris Nichols, Samuel and Viola Hicks, Sr., and Rosa Lee Haynes; brother, Terrence Nichols, Sr.; aunt, Vera Hicks; uncles, Pierre Cash, James Hicks and Elder Joseph Jefferson; cousin, Warren Mitchell, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memories with his children, Samuel Hicks IV, Pierre Hicks (mother, Lisa Colvin-Monroe) and Samy'a Hicks (mother, Rachel Amones); devoted mother, Edwina "Kitty" Sheppard; brothers, Cedric Hicks, Alphonso Sheppard, Jr. (Gloria), Antonio Sheppard, Sr. (Melinda); sister, Michelle Collins; grandmother, Martha Thompson; nieces, Terrencia Nichols, Shayla Hicks, Ced'Kia Hicks, Jy'L Harris, Tonia Porter, Chantelle Holland (Matt), Allie Sheppard and Antinyah Sheppard; great nieces, Makayah Haynes and Aeryn; nephews, Antwan Bynum, Terrence Nichols, Jr., C.J. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, May 8th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends during the visitation.  Due to the limited number of people allowed to attend public gatherings, the Graveside Service will be live streamed at
