A Graveside Celebration of Ms. Life for Mary L. Malphus Nelson of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Monday, July 13, 2020 will be held Friday, July 24th, 2:00 at, Orange Hill Cemetery, 4900 E. Chelsea St., Pastor Major Jones II, officiating.
Mary Lee Malphus Nelson was born September 21, 1925 to the late Lewis and Esther Malphus. She was the only child and attended Hillsborough County Public Schools. She graduated from Middleton High School. She later attended Don Thompson Vocational School, where she took business courses under the late Mrs. Blake, educator.
She was a long-time dedicated seamstress at HaBer Bridal Shop, and an Eastern Star member of 35 years, Preston M. Phulley Chapter #326 under, Worthy Matron Sister Eula Jackson. She enjoyed sewing, baking, cooking and hosting social gatherings. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Gilbert Nelson, Jr.
She leaves to cherish 6 children, Audrelia Watson (Arnold), Gilbert Nelson III, Antonio, Michael, Raymond Contreras (Gloria) and Brian Malcom (Angela); grandchildren, Arnette Law (Jimmy), Arna Young (Kurt), Arnelle Watson, Mary McKay (Ryan), Kimberly Irons (Keith), Arnold Watson, Jr. (Robin), Kenny Watson, Kent Watson (LaKina), Florence Watson, Latrail Contreras, Brishauna Malcom, Antony Watson, Briana Malcom and Dajahnau Waller; 28 greatgrandchildren and 1 great greatgrandchild; godson, Eugene Welch (Linda) and cousin, Gloria Love.
The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Thursday, July 23rd from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the graveside on Friday for the service. We are following the CDC guidelines.
