A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Patricia Jean Fomby Gayle of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Friday, November 6, 2020 will be held on Friday, November 13th, 4:30 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Rev. Dr. Bartholomew Banks, Sr., pastor of St. John Progressive, officiating.

Patricia....Pat as she was affectionately called, was born February 22, 1952 to the parents of Mary Tillman and Lynn Fomby in Winter Haven, Florida. She is predeceased by both parents, her husband Curly and her brother Shepherd.

She attended Polk County Schools and afterwards moved to Newburg, NY in 1969 and was employed by the VA Montrose Hospital as a pharmacy technician.  She would later return to Florida in 1991.  At that time, she accepted Christ and united with St. John Progressive under the pasturage of Rev. Dr. Bartholomew Banks, Sr. She became a faithful member, joining the Intercessory Prayer Group, and was a youth worker with the Children’s Usher Board.  She was a faithful member of Sunday School Class #6 and along with that, she stepped in when needed to read the church announcements. Pat was an avid reader and was a graduate of the first Faith Bible Institute Class at St, John. She loved cooking for and enjoying her family, always trying and perfecting new recipes. However, other than scripture, her favorite pass-time was crocheting and making beautiful throws for the entire family.

She leaves her cherished memories with her 2 children, Kristofer Hemingway, Sr. of Kingsport, TN and Antionette Hemingway of Montgomery, AL; grandchildren, Eboni Hemingway and Gemiqua Archie of Tampa, Florida, Kristofer Jr. and Noah Hemingway of Kingsport, TN; awesome great-grandchildren, Ke'Mari, Lyric, Justice, Naveah, and Ryan Jr, all of Tampa, Florida; great-great-grandchildren, Kristorina of Kingsport, TN; sisters, Leola Williams of Kingsport, TN and Min. A. Faye Wingo of Tampa, Florida; the best nieces and nephews an aunt could have... Lynette (Kirk), Atlanta, Georgia, Ryan, San Juan, New Mexico, Trey and Dawn, Atlanta, Georgia, Sterling Wingo, Kaleesha Bent, Rev. Joshua Bent and Ka'Lyah Wingo, all of Tampa, Florida; bosom buddies, Carolyn Russ, Linda Jones, Reggie Bellamy, Odessa Powell, Cheryl Burnett and Stephanie Grant; goddaughter, Tyquetta Smith. We will, without a doubt, long for your smile and fun-loving spirit. We love you Pat. The visitation will be held one hour prior to service. We are following the CDC guidelines.
