Mrs. Barbara Joyce Nelson Reese was born July 12, 1939, in Tampa, FL to parents Oscar Donald Nelson Sr. and Mary Alice Smith Wright. Mrs. Reese was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of College Hill. As a life-long member, she served in the senior adult choir, the deaconess board, Jolly Seniors, and the Trustee Board. She retired from Hillsborough County Sheriff Dept. as a Lieutenant after serving 23 years. She was a member of the Non-Pariels social club. She was a graduate of Middleton Senior High School class of 1956. She was a member of Silver Seniors Treasures of Williams Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sons, Carl E. Jackson and Carlton D. Jackson, and grandson Mark Anthony Jackson, 2 brothers, Oscar D. Nelson Jr. and Melvin D. Nelson. She leaves to cherish, husband of 47 years, Willie Lewis Reese; daughter, Carlette Jackson (Tony); grandchildren, Omar Hopkins, Ebony Pringle, Keinan Jackson (Janice), Marcus Jackson, Katrina Seay (Jason), Peggy Singleton (Joseph), Jimmeka Hobley and Anthony Williams III; 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; siblings, Carroll Mitchell, Herbert Nelson of San Diego, CA., Paulette Nelson of Atlanta, GA., Patricia Chaney (Maceo) of Stone Mountain, GA, Carlton Nelson (Luvator), and Donald Nelson, Hattiesburg, MS; in-laws, George and Ann Reese, Bernard and Johnnie Nell Reese, Brenda Reese Brown, Andrea Reese, Cynthia and John MacDonald, Claudia Reese, and Essie Reese; a circle of close friends, Rosalie Jones, John Daniels, Robert Nelson, Pearl Mausby, Barbara McGill, Gloria Jolly, Richard and Earlene Keesee, Herbert Bolen, Alberta White, Denise Cooper, "Like son" Tyrone Porter (Kim), 2 godsons, Johnathan Reese II (JR) and Jeremiah Cooper; goddaughter, Jessica Durden; special cousins, Mary Alice Bailey and Pauline Smith, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and other sorrowful relatives and friends.
