A celebration of life for Mr. Jeffrey Michael Hobbs Sr. of Tampa, Fl. who transitioned on Tuesday September 1, 2020 will be held on Saturday, September 12 at 11:00 am at New Beginning Ministries of Tampa, Fl. 11323 N. Nebraska Ave, Tampa, Fl. 33612, Elmer Wilson, Pastor. Ernest Howell, Pastor of Grace and Truth Fellowship International will be officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial cemetery. Jeffrey was born May 22, 1959 in Tampa, Fl. to the late Myra J. Williamson. He was the grandson of the late Deacon Colmon and Evangelist Jessie Mae Wilson. Jeffrey graduated from King High in 1977. He worked for the city of Tampa, waste management and P&L cleaning services for many years.
He was the eldest of 5, and he was known for his fierce protection over his siblings, especially his sisters. He was a fun-loving person with a gift for comedy. There was never a dull moment when Jeffrey was around. He knew how to brighten up a room with his jokes and humor. In his youth, Jeffrey was a member of New First Union M.B. church under the leadership of his stepfather the late Rev. Rufus Williamson and Pastor Joseph Thompson. Jeffrey was also an anointed singer and he was one of the original members of New First Union’s Angel choir. He was preceded in death by his mother, Myra Williamson, grandparents, Colmon and Jessie Mae Wilson, uncles: Colmon Wilson Jr., Edward Wilson Sr., Gerald Wilson, and niece Aujonae Betts.
He leaves to treasure his precious memories, children: Shanitha Hobbs, Jeffrey Michael Hobbs Jr., Prince Harvey (Kia) and Amanda Adkins; grandchildren: Jamari Taylor, Arion Taylor, Anjell Hobbs, Jayla Hobbs, Kim, Marley Harvey, Mia Harvey, Reign Harvey, Magic Harvey, Prince Harvey Jr., Aniya Brown, and Jeromie Porter Jr.; siblings: Janice Lewis, Jacquelyn Barnes (Louis), Jerry Williamson (Deneen) Jessie Betts (Terrance); uncles: Special uncle Larry Wilson, Tampa, Fl. Pastor Marvin Graham (Gloria) Lamont, Fl., Anthony Graham, Fort Myers, Fl., Kevin Wilson (Charlotte), Tampa, Fl.; aunts: Dorothy Jean Jones (Johnny), Ft. Myers, Fl, Delores Jones, Tampa, FL. Vivian Holmes, Orlando, Fl. Angela Wilson, Tampa, Fl., Elizabeth ”Ann” Wilson and Shirley Wilson, Tampa, FL.; nephews: Corey Graham, Joey Barnes (Ebonie), Auriel Betts, Jordan Clark and, Zayden Betts, Zion Betts, and Makhi Jackson; nieces: Cha’Myra Lewis, Cha’nille Lewis, Jyra Barnes, Jaquel Barnes, Dalisha Williamson, Danielle Williamson, Jessica Naughton (Seth), Auterya Betts, Malani Jackson, , Morgan Barnes and MacKenzie Barnes; special friend: Melody Bing; best friend and second family: Shaun William and wife, Gretchen; goddaughter, Londyn Williams; special neighbors: The McClullough Family, and Ms. Pearl Wimbely.
The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral home on Friday, September 11, 2020 from 4-6pm. In keeping and complying with CDC guidelines, wearing a mask is required during the visitation and funeral.
