A Celebration of Life Service for Deacon Donald Marshall of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Friday, September 25, 2020, will be held on Saturday, October 3rd, 10:00 a.m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Pastor W.D. Sims of St. Mathew M.B. Church, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Deacon Donald Marshall, Jr., was born November 25, 1933 to the late Donald Marshall, Sr. and the late Siller Marshall in Tampa. FL. He was the oldest of 3 siblings born to that union.
He was educated in the School District of Hillsborough County graduating from Don Thompson Vocational High School, now known as Howard W. Blake Senior High School. While attending Don Thompson Vocational High School, he developed on interest in auto mechanics that shaped his future career. He was employed as a mechanic for C.E. Kelly Auto Sales and retired after over forty years of service. He had a desire to explore an interest in accounting, and enrolled in the University of South Florida and took classes in that major. He also had a zealous passion for working on cars and fishing. In his later years, he took great pleasure in spending time with family and friends while sitting on his front porch.
Deacon Donald Marshall, Jr. confessed Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and the belief, trust, and faith he received was evident in the way he lived his life. Over 50 years ago, Deacon Marshall became a diligent, loyal, and faithful member and servant of St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church, until his health failed to the point that he could no longer serve or attend as he so desired. However, his love for his church never ceased. Deacon Marshall was an astute bible teacher and displayed a vast range of knowledge of the Word of God which was evident in the way he taught the various Bible classes and studies that were assigned to him.
Deacon Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Siller Marshall; son, Anthony Marshall; sister, Georgia Green; brother, Robert Gambrell; aunt, Georgia Smith and granddaughter, Erin Marshall.
Those left behind to cherish fond memories of him are children, Bernard Marshall, Tampa, Donald Marshall III (Andrea), Atlanta, GA, Curtis Marshall (Frediths) Tampa, Linda Lyles, Tampa, John Marshall (Sarah), Tampa and Brenda Buster, Tampa; 1st wife and mother of his 7 children, Maudie Marshall, Tampa; grandchildren, Donald lV, Michael, Ashley, Jordan, Aisha, Gabriella, Marlon, Kevin, Arnesjah, Nathan, Jeremiah, and Cedric; sisters, Lorene White, Tampa and Althamese Howard, Lakeland, FL; and a number of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and the St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church Family, including, Pastor W. D. Sims, the Deacon Staff, Sunday School Ministry and members and other relatives and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, October 2nd from 6-7 p.m.
