Homegoing celebration for Ms. Sandra Yvette Ervin of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017 will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at First M.B. Church of Seffner, Rev. Nathaniel Love, pastor officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Sandra was born on March 1, 1960 in Tampa, FL Samuel Ervin, Jr. and Esther Louise Ervin. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age by Rev. L.R. Stancil, her grandfather and pastor of New Bethel Progressive M.B. Church in Tampa, FL. Sandra attended the schools of Hillsborough County and was a member of the National Honor Society and a graduate of King High School class of 1977. She was an athlete on King’s Women’s Track Team and helped win medals in several of their county and state events. She graduated from Florida State University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree. After graduation she later worked as a claims representative for Health Plan Services, Inc., and later as an Assistant Manager of Policy Services for USAA Insurance Company. Sandra was an avid reader of all genre of literature, but especially African American history, politics and life. She was a faithful and conscientious student of the Holy Bible and loved to discuss and teach scriptures. She loved teaching Sunday School classes and the adult class of vacation bible school for several years; these were some of her proudest moments. She was very charitable to others, especially the elderly, and an encouraging friend to the younger generation. Sandra was a talented seamstress, a skill she developed in her high school home economics class. She loved to sew for the family and friends. Although Sandra had many health challenges during her lifetime, she was persistent and consistent in helping others quietly. She was preceded in death by her aunt, Lila Joyce Ervin McCardy; uncle, Hercules Stancil, Sr. and first cousin, Herbert Lamar Ervin. She leaves to mourn her memories with her parents, Samuel Ervin, Jr. and Esther Louise Stancil; sister, Cynthia Yolanda Ervin; aunts, Mattie Mae Ervin, Lee Etta Ervin-Love of Columbia S.C. , SC and Betty Stancil of Bradley, FL; uncle, Herbert Ervin of Tampa, FL; first cousins, Torya McCardy Powell of Marlboro, MD, Lt. Col. Robert Love, Jr. (Julie) of Alexandra, VA, Rodney Love (Pilani) of Columbia, SC, Mamie Thomas of Lakeland, FL, Laurea Warner (Johnny), Debbie Mitchel (Frederick) of Bradley, FL, Hercules, Stancil  (Sonja) of Lakeland, FL, Rev. Troy Stancil (Cassie) of Bradley, FL and Yolanda Marie Ervin; special friends, Emma Lawson, Haines City, FL, Claudia Treadwell and  Elaine Shepherd of Tallahassee, FL, Stephanie Simpson and Pat Berte; and a host of other relatives including the legacies of the following families, Stancil, Warner, Nealy, White, Scurry, Brown and other dear friends wo will miss her. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, March 31st from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
