A Homegoing Celebration for Sister Marion G. Odom of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, will be held Saturday, November 4, 2017, 2:30 p.m. at Peace Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 2607 E. 24th Ave., Bishop Sylvester Robinson, officiating. The interment will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Tampa, Florida. Sister Marion G. Odom was born on December 10, 1927 in Tampa, FL, to the late Mr. Charles Odom, Sr., and late Mrs. Marie Butler. She was the third child of four born to this union. Growing up, Marion attended the schools in the Hillsborough County School District. She was a graduate of Middleton Senior High School. She was employed at Dixie Lilly and Jack’s Cookies for a number of years. After many years of service, she retired from Jack’s Cookies. She was a wonderful mother figure to all the children in the neighborhood. Always looking out of them each and every day. At an early age, she gave her life to the Lord while attending Peace Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. She was a faithful member of Peace until her health began to fail. During that time, she had serves on the Senior Usher Board and a long time participant in Sunday School. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Charles Odom, Sr., and Mrs. Marie Butler, brothers, Charles Odom, Jr., and Horace Odom, sister, Julia Fountain. She leaves to cherish her precious memories as a wonderful mother to her sons, Arthur (Sonya) Williams, Michael (Ella) Wynn of Dover DE; grandchildren, Chris Wynn of Pennsylvania and Andy Wynn of California, Stephanie and Ashley Williams, Lynn Bythoow of New Castle, DE and Juanita Whaley of Fayetteville, North Carolina; niece Darlene (Terry) Jackson; nephew, Ronald Odom of Philadelphia, PA; great nieces, Melissa Cherry, Sherry (Travis) Thomas, Tiara Moreau; great nephew Kareem King, Morris Cherry of Chambersburg, PA; a host of loving great nieces, great nephews and cousins; godchildren, Rev. Terry (Darlene) Slayton; special friends, Annie Belle Mills and Marge Cummings; a host of other loving relatives and friends. The visitation will be held at Peace Progressive Missionary Baptist Church on Friday, November 3, from 5-7 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:30 -6:30 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
