August 2, 1952 ~ August 21, 2018 (age 66)

A homegoing celebration for Mr. Leroy Norman of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 will be held Friday, August 31st, 11:00 a.m. at St. John Progressive M.B. Church, 2504 E. Chipco St., Rev. Dr. Bartholomew Banks, Sr., pastor officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Leroy Norman was born February 2, 1952 in Tampa, Florida to the late Calvin Norman Sr. and the late Mary Lue Norman. Leroy Norman was preceded in death by his parents Calvin Norman Sr., and Mary Lue Norman; a brother, Calvin Norman Jr.; and niece, Audrey Norman. Leroy was the 4th of 6 siblings and was a graduate of Middleton Senior High School class of 1969. He was a self-employed entrepreneur, a “Master Barber" for over 35 years before retiring. He was a proud member of St. John Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Bartholomew Banks and an active member of the Male Chorus. His favorite scripture was Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. (6) In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. He was also an active member of the Future Farmers of America and was a big influence on young men in the community. He had a passion for fishing and was very competitive with his, “as he called it, Art of Fishing" He is survived by his daughter, Twanda Norman-Lawes (James); 4 step-daughters, Opal Raglin (Na-Na), Sabrina Tucker, Mary Powe, Quaneshala Johnson; 3 step-sons, Christopher Jones, Ro Clarke(Candie), CB;  3 sisters, Rochelle Gowins, Mary Strange (Vincent), and Cathy Dilbert; 1 brother, Grover Norman; grandchildren, Nakisha and Jameez; a host  of other grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other sorrowing relative and friends, special mentions, uncle, Johnney Jones of Ft. Lauderdale, Annie Wesby of Waynesboro, Ga; and aunt, Clara Norman of Rhode Island. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Thursday, August 30th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Friday for the service.
