A homegoing celebration for Mr. John Henry Lewis of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 will be held on Saturday, December 22nd, 11:00 a.m. at Friendly Missionary Baptist Church, 2012 N. Tampania, Street. The interment will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. John was born on May 8, 1929 in Wilmington, North Carolina to the late John Henry Lewis, Sr. and Eunice Pryor. He was a native of Wilmington, NC and a longtime resident of Tampa since 1967. He was a retired US Army Tank Commander stationed in Korea, Japan, Germany and other stateside bases while in the military. John was preceded in death by his sisters, Jeanette Finlayson and Pauline Hadley and brother, Norman Lewis. He leaves to cherish his fond and loving memories with his wife, Lula E. Lewis; step-children, Larry Green (Susan), Johnny Green (Linda), Shirley Richardson and Kenneth Green, Jr.; brother, Oliver Lewis (Deanna) of Spring Texas; nieces, Andrea Telfare, Annette Washington (Tony), Joyce Lewis, Patricia Thompson (Kennard) and  Lesia McKinney (Tyrone); nephews, Oliver Lewis, Jr. (Etsuko), Thurman Moore, Larry Telfare, Jr. Tony Washington, Jr. and  Jerry Lewis; great nieces, Lakisha Banks, Cheria Washington, Irma Taylor, Amber Lewis and Ashley Lewis and a host of other relatives and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, December 21st from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
