A Homegoing Celebration for Deacon Harold Watson “Charlie Rags” of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2019 will be held on Saturday, January 4th,12:00 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church of Seffner, Seffner, Florida, 33584. Pastor Nathaniel Love, officiating. The interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Thonotosassa, Florida. As the battle had come to the end, and race had been won, the warrior was welcomed into his eternal rest. Dea; Harold Watson, better known as Charlie Rags, was born to the late Johnny and Gussie Watson, in Tampa, Florida, on June 12th 1932. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Beulah Baptist Church. Harold, was educated in the school system of Hillsborough County, and a graduate of Don Thompson Senior High School, class of 1951. Harold further matriculated at Florida A&M University. Charlie Rags was united in marriage for sixty-one years to the love of his life, Bernice Brown Watson. To this union were born five children. Harold was the administrator of the International Longshoreman Welfare & Pension Board for twenty-eight years. He was a lover of life, along with his wife they traveled extensively. Charlie Rags was a cultivator of beautiful roses and could be found on the golf course ready for a challenge at any time. Otherwise, Charlie Rags would find himself in his boat out fishing. Deacon Watson was a faithful and loving member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Seffner, under the tutelage of Rev. Nathaniel Love, until his health would no longer allow him to attend services. Dea. Watson was preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters Athaleen Marion, Johnnie Mae Williams, and Florence James. Those left to celebrate his life and to mourn his demise is his most loving wife, Bernice Watson; sons, Harold Watson, Jr. (Gladys), Michael Watson (Wanda), Ricardo Watson (Eleanor) and Gregory Watson (Sharolyn); s loving devoted daughter, Melissa McRae; 15 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; brother, Johnnie Watson, Jr. (Cassandra); sister, Loretta Brown (James): sister- in- law, Ernestine Tripp: brother-in-law, Jerome Thomas; a host of wonderful nephews, nieces, cousins, other family members and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday January, 3rd from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
