Ethel Lee Brown

January 16, 1924 ~ July 8, 2018 (age 94)

A homegoing celebration for Mrs. Ethel Lee Brown of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at the amazing age of 94, Ethel Lee Brown was called to the eternal rest and sung her favorite song, “Down by The Riverside” all the way to the end. The funeral service will be held on Saturday July 14th, 11:00 a.m. at Aikens Funeral Home Chapel, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Pastor Alvin Wingfield, officiating. The interment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery. Ethel was born in DeFuniak Springs, FL on January 16, 1924 to the late Johnny Brown and Eddie Mae Robinson. She later relocated to Tampa, Florida in the mid-1940’s, where she continued to reside until the day of her passing. Ethel was the life of the party and loved to sing and dance in her younger days. She was feisty but the most loving and family oriented person that you could ever meet. She loved gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She was loved by everyone and will be dearly missed. Ethel was preceded in death by her three sisters, Cleo Davis, Norris Myers and Doris Turner; three brothers, John Henry Brown, Eddie Brown and Roger Brown. Ethel is survived by her two sons, Alton Tarpley (Treveno) and Earnest Tarpley (significant other Frieda Fountain). Ethel had a total of seven grandchildren which included, Niccole Rogers (Corey), Alena Evans (Jimiyu), Melissa Tarpley (Kenneth), Addison Tarpley (Krystle), Myleea Tarpley, Tia Tarpley and Cedric Young (Tyan). She is also survived by her eight great- grandchildren: Neela Rogers, Aiden Tarpley, Avery Joy Evans, Skaii Williams, Brittnee White, Monica Young, Brianna Young and Cedric Young, Jr. She leaves a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. The visitation will be held on Friday, July 13th at Aikens Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the chapel on Saturday for the service.
