A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Ermelyn E. Allen of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Friday, July 19, 2019 will be held Sunday, August 4th, 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Seventh Day Adventist Church, 4902 N. 40th Street, Pastor Curtis Crieder, officiating. The interment will be Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Ermelyn was born in Newfield, Newport; Manchester, Jamaica on December 19, 1942. She was born to Vernon and Violet Thompson. Ermelyn was a sincere, humble, kind, thoughtful, high spirited and woman of valor to everyone she met, which is worthy of mentioning. She always had a smile which spoke volumes about her personality. She was a good listener, spoke up when it was necessary, always in a very tactful way. She also showed compassion, empathy and touched lives with her generosity and selflessness. She served as an elder at Mandeville Seventh Day Adventist Church for over 10 years and was serving as the first Elder of Dunsinane Church prior to her illness. She also served in numerous offices in the church and community, where she demonstrated a lot of dedication and commitment. In every way, there was no doubt that she gave of her best to the Master. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepchildren, Radiu and Enid Allen. She leaves to cherish her precious memories with her sons, Joseph Allen, Florida and Volney (Donavon) Allen, Mandeville, Jamaica; daughters, Marcia  Allen Hardie, Florida and Avoline Allen Graham, United Kingdom; step-sons,  Derrick Allen (Evelyn) and Kenneth Allen (Beverly), Florida and Errol Green (Nellie), Mandeville, Jamaica; grandchildren, Monique, Mona-Gay, Marco, Shamir,, Kirk, Jr., Shanese, Micole, Volney Jr., Damein, Patricia, Donna, Michael, Christopher, Belinda, Marlon, Luke, Lennox, Jason, Derrick Jr., Sherie, Karen Radiu (Nick), Chauntis, Christopher, Marcia, Kenloy, Mois, Percival, Donavon and Amoy; siblings, Norma Ellington of New York, Melita Allen, Carell Thompson, Ivy Sears of Manchester, Jamaica and Alvin Thompson of Florida; nieces, Sharon (Sandra) of Kingston, Jamaica and Paula Ellington of New York; nephews, Evrol and Fitzroy Ellington of Kingston, Jamaica and Michael McDonald of Canada; a host of great-grandchildren, cousins and other relatives and friends. The visitation will be held Sunday 1 hour prior to the service on August 4th 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Sunday for the service.
