A homegoing celebration for Mrs. Alyce Genevieve VonLockette of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018 will be held Friday, November 2nd 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of College Hill 3838 N 29th St, Rev. S. Evans Burrows, pastor officiating. The interment will be held in Rest Haven Memorial Park.  Alyce Genevieve Cole was born on December 4, 1921 in Tampa, Florida to Sylvester and Gladys Cole.  She was the second oldest of six children.  She died peacefully, surrounded by family on October 27, 2018. Alyce, or Jenny, as she was known to family and friends was a lifelong resident of Tampa.  She graduated from Middleton High School and received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Education from Florida A&M University.  Jenny was an elementary school teacher in the Hillsborough County School System for over 30 years.   She also taught adult evening high school for much of her teaching career.  She devoted her life to her family and to the enrichment of others.  After retirement she and her husband, Paris, enjoyed traveling the country and abroad.  Jenny was a devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother.  Her compassion and love were a blessing to her family, friends and community.  She touched the lives of all she knew through her genuine caring personality.  She was always full of encouragement and gratitude.  Jenny was active in her church: her prayer group, the security ministry, Bible studies and the senior choir. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Sylvester and Gladys Cole; husband, Paris VonLockette; son, Edwin C. Hill; and brother John C. Cole. She leaves to cherish her memory; Son Mack Hill and wife, Dale of Tampa; grandchildren, Toni Harris and husband, Michael of Pompano Beach, Florida, Michele Hill and partner, Andi Greenwald of Miami Beach, Florida, Jeffrey Hill and wife, Monique of Seattle, Washington; great grandchildren, Michael Harris, Taylor Harris, Lena Harris and Markus Harris of Pompano Beach, Florida; great-great grandchildren, Jaden Harris, Alana Harris and Aubrey Harris of Pompano Beach, Florida; brothers, Robert L. Cole of Tampa and Willis “Billy” Cole of San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Thelma Cole of Tampa and Gladys Lang and husband, Bobby of Tallahassee, Florida and goddaughter, Kimberly Blount and husband, Robert; beloved cousins, nieces and nephews as well as many devoted friends.The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Thursday Nov 1st at 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Friday for the service.
