A Catholic homegoing funeral Mass for Mrs. Mildred B. Carter-Evans of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 will be held on Saturday, March 25th, 2:00 p.m., at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, Father Hugh Chikawe pastor, 1203 N. Nebraska Ave, Father Edwin Palka, of Epiphany Our Lord and Savor Catholic Church, officiating. The interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Mildred B. Carter-Evans was born November 1, 1939 in Montgomery, Alabama to the late James and Alberta Blake. At an early age, the family moved to Tampa, Florida. She graduated from Middleton Senior High School, class of 1957. After graduating from Alabama State University, she moved to Ft. Myers, where she taught school for many years. Later, she decided to move back to Tampa to be closer to her parents, where she taught school for approximately 40 years. After retirement, she met and married the love of her life, Mr. Mack Evans. They traveled all over the world to Egypt, London, Germany, Belgium, Paris, Rome, South Africa, China, Hong Kong, Thailand and her favorite place was Las Vegas, California. She truly enjoyed her retirement, she loved people and she loved to talk about her church, she had a wonderful life for 77 years. She leaves to cherish her precious memories with her husband, Mack Evans; brothers-in-law, Nathaniel Henry and Gettis Henry; sisters-in-law, Stella Neal, Linda Henry and Annie Lee Grace; aunts, Mary Alice Harris; uncles, Sam and Calvin Williams; nieces, Jaleesa Thompson, Evette Tim and Sheryl Thompson; nephews, Martin and Jerrell Thompson; special friends, Mary Lee and Margaret Brookins; godson, Jezin Scrivens; classmates and friends, Aileen Wilford, Betty Gatlin, Betty Kinsey, Ruby French, Molbert Scrivens, LeJoan Franklin and Ernestine Glenn; a host of other friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, March 25th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
