A homegoing celebration for Mr. James E. Ford, Sr.,” Chip” of Tampa, Florida who passed away, Friday, November 17, 2017, will be held Saturday, November 25th, 11:00 a.m., at St. John Cathedral Church, 3401 E. 25th Ave., Pastor Dwight NewKirk, officiating. The interment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery. James E. Ford, Sr. affectionately known as “Chip” was born May 21, 1946 in Enigma, Georgia to the late, Willie James Ford and Clidi Mae Ford. He was a United States Army veteran, serving 2 tours in Vietnam. He was a faithful member of VFW Post 1339. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Dollie Mae Ford and Essie White; 2 brothers, Willie Clyde Ford and Rufus Ford, Sr.; and daughter, Rhonda Wood; and special cousin, Rena Bell White. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of 27 years, Doris Ford; god-son, Maurice Danzey (Shelia); 2 sons, Jermaine Simmons (Tania) and James Ford, Jr. (Sabrina); 2 daughters, Michelle Copeland and Ishia Morgan; special cousin, Martha Cary (Richard); grandchildren, Ashley Walters, LeRoy Vann, Quamaine Braxton, Saiquan Evans, Vashti Walters, Lakeisha Ford, and Iyana Ford; nephews, Rufus Ford, Kenny Ford (Necline), Edward Ford (Emma) and Calvin Ford; nieces, Alice Williams (Anthony), Annie Carter, Annie Philon (Ron), Jackie Jones (Darrel), Barbara Ann Ford, Ruby Jones (Jackie); cousins, Mary, Margie and Luther White; and a host of other sorrowing nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The visitation will be held on Friday, November 24th, from 5 to 8 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
