Deacon Frank Valdez , Sr.

April 18, 1923 ~ March 11, 2018 (age 94)

 

A homegoing celebration for Mr. Frank Valdez Sr., of Tampa, FL who passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018 will be held on Saturday, March 17th, 11:00 a.m. at Faith Temple M.B. Church, 2916 Orient Road, Rev. Eric Campbell, pastor with Rev. Dr. Greg B. Robinson, eulogist. The interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Frank was a lifelong resident of Tampa, Florida. He was the eldest of 9 children, born to the late Francisco and Rosa Valdes.  He attended public schools in Hillsborough County. He graduated from Middleton High School where he was Valedictorian of his graduation class.  After, high school Frank entered the United States Armed Forces and served in the military until he was honorably discharged in 1945.  While serving in the military he met the love of his life and married the late Vellena Whittaker and from that union 9 children were born. After being discharged from the military he obtained employment with Earley and Daniel Feed Company. After leaving Earley and Daniel in 1961, he was employed by the Coca Cola Industry where he worked as manager of the premixed department until retirement after 35 years. Frank was a member of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Mason of Florida for 55 years. Frank was a long time church member of Faith Temple Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board until his health declined. Frank enjoyed fishing, watching sports on TV and working in his yard, and spending time with his family. Preceded him in death his wife Vellena Whittaker Valdez of 55 years, mother and father Francisco and Rosa Valdes.  8 brothers and sisters, 1 niece and 3 nephews, and his mother-in-law Elizabeth Boone Garrison. He leaves to mourn and honor his memories his 9 children: 5 daughters: Frankye Jaudon, Cinderella Valdez Cuyler, Valerie Valdez, Lorraine Valdez Williams, Loretta Robinson (Rev. G.B. Robinson). 4 sons: Frank Valdez Jr., Tony Valdez Sr. (Sandra), Raymond Valdez Sr., and Alphonso Valdez Sr. 21 grandchildren: Lewis Jaudon Jr. (Sharon), Tinnelle Jaudon Wells (Provonjoe), Chandra Valdez, Tony Valdez Jr., Tawana Valdez, Tonya Valdez, Raymond Valdez Jr., Carlos Valdez, Kimberly Pierre (Jean), Brittany Valdez, Patrick Johnson, Russell Johnson (Kenya), Angel Valdez-Vargas (Joleen), Alphonso Valdez Jr. (Persephonie), April Valdez, Valmeka Williams, Marissa Martin, Selena Williams, Troy Williams, Eric Allen Jr, and Tiffany Allen James (Antonio James). 3 Nieces: Martha White Williams (Willie), Hilda Arazo, and Josephine Sweep. 4 Nephews: Joseph White, Nelson White, Basilio Arazo Jr., and Raymond Arazo. Host of greatgrands, great greatgrands, great nieces and great nephews, other sorrowing family and friends: Sylvia Valdes, Tommie Postell Sr., Brenda Kennedy Williams, Angelia Valdez, Deacon Alfred Rush, and Rev. Ricky Pierce. The visitation will be held at Faith Temple M.B. Church on Friday, March 16th  from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
