March 22, 1938 ~ February 26, 2018 (age 79)

A homegoing celebration for Sister Christine Reeves Slaton of Tampa, who passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 will be held Saturday March 10th, 11:00 a.m. at Belmont Heights Church of Christ, 5701 N. 30th Street, Evangelist Alfred Williams, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Christine Slaton was born on March 22, 1938 to the late Christopher and Mollie Reeves in Headland, Alabama. Christine was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and cousin. She passed away in a local hospital with her family at her bedside. Christine worked at home even after retirement being a full-time role model for many. Mother was the highest paid salaried paid job, since the payment was pure love. She kept her priorities straight, she never neglected or forgot to thank God for her many blessings. She kept her faith through all her trials. She has carved her name on many hearts. Her legacy is etched into the minds of all who had the opportunity to know her. She was preceded in death by her parents; a devoted husband of 31 years, Virgil Slaton; 8 brothers and 8 sisters; son, Jerome; grandson, Deandre; son-in-law, Robert Session and daughter-in-law, Rosalind Slaton. Christine will be laid to rest next to her devoted husband. She leaves to mourn her passing: 6 children, Patricia Session, Lawrence Slaton, Ruthie Walthaw (Leo), Georgia Williams (Larry, Sr.), Barbara Oglesby (Keith) and Angela Sims (Randy), all of Tampa; brothers, Willie Reeves and Harvey Reeves; sister, Cerester James; grandchildren, Kimberly (Michael), Cassandra, Jacqueline, Robert, Jr., Angela, Jessica, William, Serena, Ebony, Adrian, Michele (Tarus), Teryl, Kiara, Tenecia (Torey), Natasha (Brian), Falicia (Steve), Trenyce, Asia, Michael, Keith, Jr., Keira, Destini and Keshia; and special friends, Vivian Mallard, Gail Williams, Sylvia Butcher, Dorothy Harris (Thomas), and Delores Boykin. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, March 9th from 5 to 7 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
