A graveside service for Mr. Clarence Naman Walker of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 will be held on Saturday, January 20th, 11:00 a.m. at Orange Hill Cemetery, 4900 E. Chelsea Street, Elder Jimmie Williams and Minister Frankie Harris, officiating. The interment will follow.  Clarence Naman Walker was born on July 3, 1924 in Tampa, Florida to Harry Elijah and Sally Walker, Sr. He graduated from Middleton High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Clarence began a career in the construction industry and was one of the first blacks in Tampa, Florida to complete an apprenticeship in masonry with the local union # 8 Southeast division of International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers. Over the years, his career with the union exposed him to a vast array of development projects in the Tampa Bay area. He is noted with working as a concrete mason on several of the first buildings erected on the campus of the University of South Florida. He retired from this union as a master concrete mason. He was preceded in death by his parents and his faithful wife, of over 50 years, Inez Louise Slyke Walker; two brothers, Theodore “Teddy” Dallas and Harry Elijah Walker, Jr.; one sister, Paris Virginia Walker Cannon and one nephew, Keith Cannon. He leaves to cherish his memory: one son, Julius Cornelius Cochran, Sr., (Deidre); godson, Anthony Cochran (Charisse); two nieces, Cheryl Cannon-Lassiter and Sandra Walker; two nephews, Rochester Boyd, Jr. and Ronald Cannon; three grandsons, Julius Cornelius Cochran, Jr. (Shauna), Marquis Cornelius Cochran and Jalen Cornelius Cochran; one granddaughter, Megan Cochran; as well as a host of grand and great nieces and nephews;  special thanks to his caregiver, Tammy Hankerson; and a host of other family and friends. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Saturday, January 20th one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the gravesite on Saturday for the service.
